Read full description of the books:
In this long-awaited novel, Caroline Woodward returns to her Peace River roots. Penny Loves Wade, Wade Loves Penny is a contemporary story about middle-aged love enduring despite prolonged separations. The story winds around Penny Toland, resolute ranch wife and part-time teacher, and her husband, Wade, reluctant rancher and good man, adrift behind the wheel of his long-haul truck. Wade loops south on an odyssey from the Peace River region to the West Coast and across the province through the Okanagan and Kootenays. At home, Penny endures covetous neighbours, not-so-friendly bank managers, and suave strangers, while Wade encounters lotus-landers, biker gangs, and a ravishing all-woman country punk band called The Sireens. As the first winter blizzard blankets the north country, Wade makes a desperate push home to prove his love for Penny.

Read information about the authorCaroline Woodward is a writer and lighthouse keeper on Lennard Island Lightstation, near Tofino, B.C. She writes short and long fiction, poetry, children's picture books, for children aged 8-11, non-fiction essays and articles, sound pieces for radio and assorted other ephemera.
She grew up on a homestead in the north Peace River region of B.C. without benefit of electricity, TV, running water, computers, et cetera but with hundreds of acres of land, horses to ride, forts to build and a radio which ran on batteries.
In 2016, Northern Lights College awarded Caroline Woodward an honorary associate of arts degree to celebrate her literary contribution of books set in the Peace River region for adults and children, including Singing Away the Dark which is now published in South Korea, Bulgaria, Quebec, China and the English-speaking world.
After a busy and varied career, mostly in publishing and bookselling as a manuscript reader, publicist, managing editor, author, playwright, reading series and festival organizer, creative writing teacher, bookseller and publishers' rep, she is writing in splendid isolation. Since 2008, she has worked as a lighthouse keeper on the coast of British Columbia where there are 27 staffed lightstations. Her memoir about her first seven years "on the lights", Light Years: Memoir of a Modern Lighthouse Keeper, is a B.C. bestseller and was nominated by the booksellers of British Columbia for the Bill Duthie Booksellers Award in 2016.
Caroline writes book reviews for BC Bookworld and BC BookLook and has a column about lighthouse life in Harrowsmith magazine.
Her next collaboration is a children's picture book with painter Carol Evans, A West Coast Summer, forthcoming in fall 2018 from Harbour Publishing.
