Politieagente Julia Lindholm wordt verdacht van de moord op haar man David en hun zoontje Alexander. Haar vriendin en collega Nina ontdekt het bloedbad en treft Julia in shocktoestand aan. Julia beweert onschuldig te zijn en heeft het altijd weer over ‘een andere vrouw’, maar het psychiatrisch onderzoek en de bewijslast pleiten tegen haar. Annika Bengtzon raakt zelf serieus in de problemen, maar blijft niet bij de pakken neerzitten. Het verhaal is vlot geschreven met veel dialogen. De vele politieke, economische en vooral karakteristieke details vragen echter opperste concentratie van de lezer en werken vertragend. Geen nood: de spanning loopt gestaag op, elk personage boeit en de epiloog is verrassend.
