Read full description of the books:
I swear, I am not only reading kids books this year. It only seems that way because I read them so fast. I'm reading books for adults too, but they take me a lot longer to finish. The kids books are around, so I read them, and if I read them, I'm surely going to post them.
Anyway, this book has four stories (two about Mouse, and one each about Pig and Moose). It also has songs, recipes, and activities, as well as a CD. The CD has people singing the songs in the book and has people reading the stories. I haven't listened to the CD.
As in many of my favorite books for kids, I have to ask: Where are the parents? In the Moose story, the mom is outside raking leaves, but she never even notices a Moose is wreaking friendly havoc in her home. In the other stories, parents are neither seen nor mentioned. The kids in these stories could use more parental supervision. Today playful animals are destroying the house, but next week these kids could be smoking weed and engaging in sexual activity. Oh my!
The best part of these stories are the illustrations. Oh, the sad expression on that pig's face when she's homesick and thinking of the farm where she was born. Heartbreaking! The satisfaction that moose conveys as he sits with his legs crossed at the kitchen table and uses a napkin to wipe the muffin crumbs from his face is a joy. I love the bright colors and facial expressions.
This book was a great thrift store score.
